BBCAT's MISSION

Our mission is to help local governments, businesses, and citizens in Florida’s Big Bend do their share to abate climate change by reducing fossil fuel use and promoting energy efficiency, conservation, and renewable fuels in power plants, buildings, and vehicles.

ACHIEVEMENTS: TALLAHASSEE

2008. Tallahassee is undertaking a tremendous expansion of its Energy Services Department's efforts. Among new initiatives:

2008. Tallahassee has received three honors from Sustainable Florida:

  • A Best Practice Award for its Green Initiative
  • Recognition as a finalist in the Green Building category for its Solid Waste Services Administration Building
  • Recognition as a finalist in the Partnership category for StarMetro, the City's mass transit system.
ACHIEVEMENT: LEON COUNTY

Florida is participating with 30 other states, including California, as charter members of The Climate Registry, the largest multi-state effort to address climate change.
